Meetings and Events

Community engagement and education is part of our mission.

Members of the public are welcome to attend many of our regular meetings and training events. We also offer a wide variety of safety education and training programs.

Weekly Unit Meetings

IMSARU meets every Tuesday at 7:00pm at the unit compound. All Tuesday meetings are open to the public and we welcome you to come ask questions and meet members of the team.

Safety Education

We offer a variety of safety education classes targeted at all ages and activity types. These events are scheduled upon request. Typical audiences are schools, scouting troops, and outdoor groups. We often customize our presentations to the audience. Common topics include Ten Essentials, Basic Navigation, Avalanche Awareness, Water Safety, and Trip Planning and Preparation.

Training Offerings

IMSARU runs an extensive in-house training program. We have the ability to offer many of these training sessions externally. Common audiences include conferences, law enforcement agencies, and other SAR units. Topics we can offer include Navigation, Swift Water Awareness, Winter Preparedness, Snow and Avalanche Safety, Mapping, ICS and Command Structure, Lost Person Behavior, and Search Planning.
